Peeters has been fascinated by old masters since his youth. As a boy of thirteen years old he was intrigued most of all by Flemish primitives. During his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp the horizon of his interests broadened to include 17th and 19th century painters. At the Academy Peeters brought his oil painting technique to perfection.
Peeters’ works are oil paintings on canvas, applied in several layers. He starts from a basic tone of ochres and ombers, highlights with white, and ultimately builds up the colour in layers. In recent years he has been working in a fixed format of 100 x 100 cm.
